Introduction
Bali is one of those places that's almost impossible to experience in just one trip. Between ancient temples, lush rice terraces, beautiful beaches and incredible cafés, there's far more to see than most first-time visitors expect. The biggest mistake people make is trying to fit everything into one itinerary. Bali is much larger than it looks on a map, and getting around often takes longer than Google Maps suggests. Instead of constantly moving hotels, I'd recommend choosing just two bases and exploring from there.
That's exactly how this 7-day itinerary is designed. You'll split your stay between Nusa Dua and Ubud, with a few carefully planned day trips along the way. It's the same approach I followed during my own trip, and it made exploring Bali far more enjoyable.
Before you start planning, I'd also recommend reading my What to Know Before Traveling to Bali guide. And before you leave this article, don't forget to check the FAQ section at the end, where I've answered some of the most common questions first-time visitors have - such as the best way to get around Bali, the best time to visit and whether 7 days are enough to explore the island.
