Introduction

Many hotels in Bali describe themselves as eco-friendly, but very few actually make you feel that sustainability is part of the experience. After spending almost two months in Bali and staying at several different resorts, I quickly realized that the word eco is used everywhere—but Munduk Moding Plantation was the first place where I truly understood what an eco-resort should be.

Sustainability at the Resort

From the reusable glass water bottles in the villa instead of single-use plastic, to the on-site workshop where recycled glass, plastic, and other materials are transformed into beautiful works of art, every detail reflects the resort's commitment to sustainability. They even recycle used cooking oil to create handmade candles, proving that sustainability here goes far beyond simply reducing plastic.

The Infinity Pool

Most people know Munduk Moding Plantation for its award-winning infinity pool, and it absolutely lives up to the hype. But if you're lucky enough to catch a clear sunset, the sky puts on an incredible show. The warm colors reflecting on the pool make it one of those moments you'll want to have your camera ready for.

My Villa Stay

I stayed for two nights in the Arak Bali Villa – One Bedroom Pool Villa with Jacuzzi, and if I could change one thing about my trip, it would be staying longer. The villa offered complete privacy, a private pool, an outdoor jacuzzi, and butler service that made the whole experience feel incredibly personal. It was the kind of place where you actually wanted to spend time at the resort instead of exploring. I also had my first floating breakfast here, and I don't think I could have chosen a more beautiful place to experience it.

Coffee Plantation Tour

One of the most memorable experiences during our stay was the complimentary coffee plantation tour. As a coffee lover and someone who worked as a barista for several years, I've learned a lot about coffee through both hands-on experience and training. However, seeing the entire process firsthand—from the coffee plants to the final cup—was something completely different and made me appreciate it even more.

At the end of the tour, we were invited to taste a selection of coffees, including their Luwak coffee. What impressed me the most, though, was learning about their approach to producing it. Unlike many coffee plantations in Bali, they don't keep civets in cages. Instead, they only collect coffee beans naturally found in the wild, as they strongly believe in animal welfare. Knowing this made the experience even more special and was something I truly appreciated.

If you're considering booking one of the private villas, I'd recommend planning at least two or three nights here. Munduk Moding Plantation isn't just a hotel where you sleep after sightseeing—it's a destination that deserves to be experienced.
